Office XP Perpetually Asking for EULA Acceptance after October Patches
Ray Newman <ray_newman[ at ]hotmailunderpants.com> 10/15/2008 4:12:02 PM
Luckily, I only have one user still on Office XP, but every time she
opens a program from that suite it asks her to accept the EULA. Close
the program and reopen it...same EULA.

At first I thought it might have been some malware she contracted, but
this appears to be a legitimate problem with her Office XP
installation that only cropped up after last night's patches were
applied.

If it makes any difference, we are still running WSUS v2 here.

I am going to uninstall any Office patches from yesterday from her PC
for now and see how it goes.

Is anyone else encountering this issue this morning?

Wow...it's been a while since I have posted, as I have not worked with
Colonnade for well over 3 years. *fixed*

Also, while I did not determine which patch caused this issue, the
workaround was rather simple.

I logged on to the PC as a local admin and accepted the EULA and all
was well. Apparently Office XP tries to write something to a file or
a portion of the registry that is not available to limited users when
it makes note of whether or not the EULA had been accepted.

Strange indeed. Hope this helps someone...

I have had some users complaining abou this so it does help that you posted
this, but it does not help in that i do not want to have to go around to
that many pc's just to login and accept this thing..... Does someone out
there have a good fix to this? I would think you could accept directly from
the wsus server...
