Except there are NT4 or BIND 4.9.3 and earlier DNS server software. Then also AXFR will be used. Why will you change form the advantage of only replicating the delta to the full transfer? I was just curious if there a 'hidden' option I did not find yet. I stumpled above that question when I noticed that after a restart of the DNS service on the primary DNS server the transfer of the zone was (although IXFR) a complete one. Sure, the DNS service can't map the differences of the RR anymore to the serial number of the zone. So in a situation to make sure that the secondary zone is up to date, I tried the AXFR with dnscmd.exe. Never mind, but many thanks! Greetings, Jose
