We have a 2003 domain with roughly 65K users. This domain also has a mixed 2003 / 2007 Exchange Org. At our site there are 3 domain controllers that are 64 bit and have 32 GB of memory to cache the entire directory. Now MOM and another product NetQOS, are reporting constantly that many of our DC / GC are unresponsive and usually to LDAP queries on port 389. These DC are running Virus Scan but have the exclusions as per Microsoft. Now I did find the MaxPageSize and MaxValRange had been messed with due to some other programs that use LDAP lookups. Our DC / GC have now been set back to the default 1000 and 1500 settings respectively but are still showing these LDAP delays and Unresponsive session. Now normally the GC on port 3268 does not show the same excessive or degraded performance as the LDAP. Just trying to figure out what is being missed that might cause these LDAP issues. Windows Firewall is not running on these systems either.
Any ideas what else to check? Thanks!!
