WSUS patches installation status
Jack Sun (jack.sun[ at ]kuehne-nagel.com) 12/23/2008 8:12:01 AM
Hi All:
I'm confused with some of the pc listed in my wsus server. (wsus 3.0 sp1)
From the main view of a computer, I can see it need about 40-50 patches.
(Needed?)
After click on the 'needed' icon, all the patches which are needed by the pc
shows,
most of those patches approval status is 'approved',
but to this pc, the status is 'not installed'.
How am I able to know the reason that they're not being installed on the pc?
The event log also did not give me any help.

Thanks.
Expecting anyone can give me an answer. (to my email)

The default is for an update to be set to not approved which means it will be
detected by a client as "needed" but no content will download until you approve
for "installation". Only after this approval (and the download has completed)
will the client be able to installed the update. Hence it will be "Needed" but
"not installed"

Thanks Dave,
The patch status was approved to install on all the pc, but the report just
tell me it's
'not installed' on this pc, nothing else.
So I do not know the detailed reason for "not installed', that make me
curious.
