If I am not mistaken you have domain called yourdomain.local on one of your servers which is DC/DNS. You are trying to have DNS entry (A record) perhaps as 251.com in the DNS name space yourdomain.local and you cannot do it. Simply because your DNS is not authoritative for the DNS name space, this is why you need forwarders. I have my domain abc.edu.pk I want to host a new website in my webserver in my domain. in want to set the name of my new hosted site is 251.abc.edu.pk. I added 251 in my dns against the particular ip address. But when i ping the 251.abc.edu.pk it did not ping the particular ip against the given dns record. It is a digit entry. i am Using windows server 2003 domain.
