Does Visa OS Work with Windows CD Version 3.01? Georgia Guy 11/7/2008 10:49:01 PM Hello, I own a Jornada 680. I'm trying to get it to sync up with my new laptop, which uses Vista. The Q & A I attached references an older version of the PPC OS, but I essentially have the same question: Will my version of the PPC work with Vista. Here is the information from my Jornada: Microsoft Windows CE, Handheld PC Edition Version 3.01: Core System Version 2.11 Pocket Internet Explorer Version 3.01 Pocket Outlook Versiona 3.01 If these two programs ARE compatable, my next question would be how to get my computer to recognize that the Jornada is ready to be sync'd. But anyway, No, nothing you can do. Just as older Windows OSs required ActiveSync to sync a PPC, Vista requires a thing called Windows Mobile Device Center. WMDC only syncs back to PPC2003. You unfortunately are blessed with an original PPC OS, circa 2000. AS doesn't work on Vista and WMDC doesn't support the Jornada. The handheld OS, which actually predates the first PPC OS I mentioned below, also isn't supported by WMDC. The 680 was a nice device though...actually still is as a standalone unit. You'd have to dig up a PC running XP or earlier, and snag a copy of ActiveSync 3.8 or earlier.
