Hi,
My mail server address is mail1.hizone.com, i was using ip 216.82.71.25 for it. Now i have changed the ip to 216.82.71.176 for the same address. I have created a ptr record for the same in reverse dns section in windows 2003. But when i check the reverse dns record, mail1.hizone.com still refers to 216.82. 71.25 and not the new ip.
216.82.71.176 is also listed on spamcannibal.org for ptr problem reason.
Can any one help please.

Hello babarch, The old one won't be deleted unless you manually delete it. So delete the old one, flush the dns on a machine you want to test reverse lookup and I'll bet you are all good to go
flushdns - From a command prompt do the following: ipconfig /flushdns

Hi,
I did flushdns yesterday, but still it is showing old entry when i check using various web sites like http://postmaster.aol.com/tools/rdns.html
I even tried nslookup, for ip x.x.x.176, it says non-existent domain and for x.x.x.25, it gives name as mail1.hizone.com
Is there any other place like registry where RDNS entery needs to be corrected? The primary dns of the server is x.x.x.25.

Hi. Do ipconfig/flushdns on the DNS servers. Best regards. S.
