WSUS does not prompt for a password.
The operational side of WSUS uses anonymous access to IIS.
The administrative side of WSUS uses domain authentication (Integrated Windows authentication). If you're getting a windows authentication prompt, it's because IE is not properly configured on that client.
Enter your domain account/password (or one authorized to use WSUS), and click on remember password. Ultimately the WSUS website should be a member of the Trusted Sites security class.
