AES 256 support hotfix for Server 2003
"Andrew" <j.doe[ at ]nospam.com> 12/8/2008 2:25:24 PM
I'm having a little difficulty with Hotfix 192447 mentioned in this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948963.

After I've applied the update and restarted the server, all mail being
forced to use TLS through routing groups in Exchange 2003 gets queued and
just sits there. I just setup the routing groups for the first time a
couple weeks ago so I'm not sure if I'm just missing something simple here
or not.

Time to call MS.

You said, though, that you restarted "the" server. The presence of
routing groups implies the presence of multiple servers. Was the
hotfix installed on all the Exchange servers? Were they all restarted?

Sorry, not routing group, SMTP connector. The local bridgehead specified on
the SMTP connector is the default SMTP VS. There is only one exchange
server.

If you select a queue that has email in it and is in the "retry"
state, look at the bottom of the window and see what the reason is.

Maybe the domain you're trying to send the email to doesn't offer the
STARTTLS command? Or maybe a mutually acceptable set of parameters
can't be agreed to by the machines on both sides?
