I have attempted the following technique for pre-staging data without success.
I have a portable server (a VM actually) set up as a replication partner with two primary servers in different locations. I suspend the connection between the two primary servers, enable the connection between Primary A and the portable, add the data and let the replication settle out. Then I move the portable server to the second site and enable replication between Primary B and the portable and let that replication settle out. Finally, I reenable replication between Primary A and Primary B, hoping that it will settle out without recopying all the data. Yet, all the data gets copied anyway or at least the network traffic generate is sufficient to copy all the data.
