DNS site setup
"Rob" <noemail[ at ]email.com> 12/21/2008 12:47:50 AM
I have two offices. One has main dns and dc. Remote office has secondary dns
and dc for the computers at that office. Two hardware routers maintain the
vpn link between the offices for replication. Here is my problem. When the
vpn link goes down (randomly from time to time for a few minutes), users at
the remote office cannot access the internet. I understand not being able to
access a local intranet site, but things such as google or whatever don't
work either until the vpn link comes back up. Currently on the secondary dns
server, there is nothing set in the forwarders tab. Should I enter the ip
address of the local router at that office to fix this problem? Or should I
put something else? Any help appreciated.

I would have it forward to the sites IPS's DNS servers.

So your saying put in the DNS servers of the broadband provider for that
location?

Yes, add them as forwarders on that sites' DNS server that all the AD
clients are using.
If you router forwards request to the ISP's DNS server then you can use the
routers IP as the forwarder.
