SBS2003 w/WSS3.0 Upgrade to MOSS
Pete 11/13/2008 7:07:01 PM
Hello,

I've only done casual looking at this point on this subject.

We currently have a WSS3.0 stand-alone install on an SBS2003 server (left
the original WSS2.0 installed for SBS monitoring).

The data files for WSS3.0 have been moved from their default SSEE location
to a partition with more space.

I'm assessing how effortless an upgrade from WSS3.0 to MOSS will be. The
reading that I have done seems to indicate that a straight upgrade works by
simply kicking off the setup.exe installer of MOSS would do an in-place
upgrade.

Referring to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262342.aspx it
indicates that I should be able to select the [Complete] install option. In
truth both the only available option for me is [Stand-alone].

Before blindly proceeding I wanted to get input from anyone that has
performed this type of upgrade on SBS2003 and what gotchas they ran into, if
any.(yes, I've run a backup of the existing data, however the above technet
note also indicates that this is an irreversible upgrade which would be a
tedious mess to sort out if this fails)

Cheers,
~Pete

This is a question you need to take up with the =SBS= and/or =MOSS= people;
this forum is for addressing questions specific to WSUS.
