problem connecting to Domain controller "gs" <gs[ at ]dontMail.telus> 12/29/2008 6:38:14 PM How can I duplicate existing DC, dns AD on w2k3 servers of one domain to a new w2k8 server? In this particular place, there were in existing two w2k3 based servers:: s1 with file server, DNS and AD roles, s2 with exchange and DNS and AD roles. All belong to the same domain. Currently the DC and DNS have some problems and the S1 have physical hardware problem. I am tasked with moving the files to S2 and also setting up a new temporary server to take over the DNS and Active directory. The problem is I could not setup a new 2k3 based bare server on the new hardware I was given but I managed to install w2k8 Std.instead I could join the new S3 to the domain but could not add using dcpromo /adv as it seem to have trouble finding the DC/dns. the trouble with DC/DNS happens whether the new S3 is joined to domain or not. What can I do make sure the exiting domain and active directory is duplicated on the w2k8 based s3?
