I have big trouble any help would be greatly appreciated .... ok the thing is this my dns resolves pages like google, yahoo, and many others but when I try to connect to a certain page it won't open, I used nslookup it shows
DNS request timed out. timeout was 2 seconds. *** Request to xxxxxx.xxxxxx.local timed-out
and when I used nslookup with the ip address I can connect without a problem Server: xxxxxx.xxxxxx.local Address: 172.17.16.1
Name: core.taskforceconsulting.net Address: 70.38.11.187
The strange thing is that I asked my friends to check out the page and two of them outside of the company where able to see the page, but one of my friends presented the same problem as I do. Does any one know what the hell is going on.

Whose page?

When you mask things it makes it difficult for us to help you troubleshoot. > > and when I used nslookup with the ip address I can connect without a > problem > Server: xxxxxx.xxxxxx.local > Address: 172.17.16.1 > > Name: core.taskforceconsulting.net > Address: 70.38.11.187 > > > The strange thing is that I asked my friends to check out the page and > two of them outside of the company where able to see the page, but one > of my friends presented the same problem as I do. Is it not possible that there's something wrong with that site/server/page?

This may either be related to EDNS0 or an ADSL issue with the MTU. But you're right, masking or munging the data doesn't allow us to help with the poster's specific problem. If the poster can provide information regarding the website name, it maybe helpful.
What I did is in a browser I typed in http://taskforceconsulting.net and it was redirected to http://www.tfcons.com/. I got a page saying Task Force Consulting is in the middle of an upgrade. Not sure if this is the website the poster is talking about, but I was able to see it. Using taskforceconsulting.net in nslookup, it immediately gave me the same results the poster provided. However when I tried www.taskforceconsulting.net, it shows me it is an Alias. Now I know aliases require an additional lookup and may cause a delay in response if busy, especially with an alias redirecting to another site. Also, www.tfcons.com is an alias as well. So if typing in www.taskforceconsulting, or just http://taskforceconsulting in a website, needs to resolve the alias, then it is redirected to www.tfcons.com, which is an alias that requires two more lookups. With all this, it apparently requires multiple resolutions to get the answer before it even gets to site. All this contributes to delays.
