DNS server troubleshooting
Tester <calinguga[ at ]netscape.net> 10/8/2008 6:09:30 PM
Hello there,
I have a W2K3 primary DNS server with AD integrated zones that is
exchanging its AD zone and a Unix zone with a Unix Bind server every
30 minutes.
Name resolution works most of the time, but every 2 weeks or so client
XP and W2K machines cannot for some reason resolve some server names
that are hosted on the Unix zone. It works if I try accessing by IP
or if I do a ipconfig /release/renew on the client or if I reboot the
W2K3 DNS server-.
Thank you, T

Hi there,
I have DHCP settings OK with DNS, Wins, gateway. Problem is once in a
while the DNS server itself gets stuck, rebooting it solves the
problem temporarilly. Sometimes even releasing the IP does not fix it.
Thanks, T

Hi,
Also problem seems with client DNS resolver not being able to
communicate with server or DNS server itself. TCPIP works OK, ping,
net view, etc. This is why I need some guidance to DNS
troubleshooting. Thanks, T
