Anandkumar 11/24/2008 11:35:05 AM
Dear All.

I have configured a domain with DNS integrated with AD. I have an internal
website named www.domain.com. With respect to this i have made the forward
lookups in the dns server. It works when iam trying to access in the client
pc. But sometimes it is giving page cannot be displayed. Can any one help me
out what could be the issue.

Can you be more specific, please? Assuming you are talking about IE, what
URL is giving you 'page cannot be displayed?'

Is your internal domain the same name as your external domain? If so, where
is your website being hosted? Is it at an ISP's location, or is it being
hosted internally?

Hi,

When it gives you this error, try to enter the ip adress of the website. If
does not work, then the problem is not the dns server, it's the webserver.
If it's working with the ip address, check your dns service state on the
server and see here other troubleshooting steps:

Dear Ace

Yes the internal domain name is same as the external domain name. Website is
hosted in local network not in ISP.

could you type "ipconfig /all" on the client that is giving you the problem.
Post the result, and let's see if there is anything we can find there.

Ok, thanks for this information.

In addition to seeing an ipconfig /all, that Deji requested (it will help
us), you previously said that it works from a client PC, but you also said
it sometimes give 'page cannot be displayed' message. Is that also on the
client, or on the server?

Does it work when you type in http://domain.com? (without www)
Does it work with www.domain.com?
Do it sometimes work with both methods or more with one than the other?

What server is the website running on? Is it on the domain controller, or a
separate server?

Can you also provide an ipconfig /all of the server (domain controller) too,
please?

Thank you,
Ace
