Permission problem connecting to WSUS
"gerryR" <gerryr[ at ]noSPAM.com> 12/18/2008 3:23:46 PM
Hi All

Installed WSUS yesterday and config'ed it to sync required windows updates
and let it off.

When I tried to connect later I got the message below:

"Cannot connect to SERVERNAME you do not have the permissions required to
access this WSUS server
To connect to the server you must be a member of the WSUS Administrators or
WSUS reporters security groups."

I'm logged onto the server as a domain admin, I've added domain admins group
to both the WSUS Admin and WSUS Reporters groups on the server so I don't
know where the permission problem could be.

The server is windows 2003 SP1 R2, I set WSUS to the alternative port 8530
during the install as we also run McAfee ePO on the server and it uses port
80. I've tried a different admin a/c, I've also tried stopping the McAfee
ePO services in case there was a conflict with it but keep getting the same
message.

Appreciate any help on this, if you need any more info just ask.

Thanks
gerryR
