Hi, I'm using WSUS 3.1.6001.65 on Windows 2003 Server, on a W2K3 AD
domain. One of my clients (XP Pro) doesn't want to populate in my WSUS
computer list. It gives soap, cookie, and sync errors. Its AU agent
files are current, and its automatic updates registry settings are
correct (via GP).
I tried running au_check_v78.exe (found here
http://www.codeplex.com%5Caureset/)
I tried reinstalling the agent: WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe /wuforce.
I tried renaming the SoftwareDistribution folders.
I upgraded from XP SP2 to SP3.
I tried resetting authorization via resetauthorization1.2.vbs (found
here http://www.vbshf.com/vbshf/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=289).
Nothing seems to help. The computer works fine otherwise, and there
are other computers of the same model and on the same VLAN that get
updates fine.
Ideas?

Actually, if the registry settings are correct.. the WUA doesn't know
that...:

But this could be a symptom of the inability to sync, rather than the cause.

The SOAP message could not be processed due to a server error; resend later.
What is the configured LOGON account for the "Automatic Updates" service on
this client?
If the LOGON account is configured correctly, Microsoft's "catch all fix
everything" resolution for all of these type errors seems to be trashing the
SoftwareDistribution folder (a case of remove the tonsils instead of take
the antibiotic if you ask me).
1. Stop the "Automatic Updates" service.
2. Rename %windir%\SoftwareDistribution to some other name of your choice.
3. Start the "Automatic Updates" service (which will recreate the
SoftwareDistribution folder tree, resync with the WSUS server, and download
any required content).

Is it supposed to be in the "unassigned" group?
The reporting URL is blank. This should be the same as the WSUS server URL
