The network card on the DNS server should point to itself for DNS but to the router for the gateway.
In the DNS console, you will want to add the router address (or an ISP dns IP) on the forwarders tab: Open DNS, rightclick the Server name and select properties, then select the forwarders tab and enter the router ip (or a known DNS server of your ISP)
