Optical drives disappeared Help???
"Spock" <ufpNOSPAM[ at ]optusnet.com.au> 6/25/2007 12:05:20 PM
Hello Everyone

My computers (Windows X64) optical drives disappeared and I get this
message as follows
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be
corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
According to the information from microsoft I need to uninstal and use the
hardware install wizard.
Well it does not work.
BTW I have two optical drives which are sata and have tried diffrent
connectors on the motherboard.
He thinks something is rotten in the state of the registry. Any ideas?????

Thank you for reading my message.

There Microsoft has published a procedure to remove the
upper & lower filters for optical drives when they are not
recognized as you describe.

There is also problems on some motherboards using SATA
optical drives. The drives cannot be installed where any
additional drivers are needed for either a SATA RAID
controller, regardless of whether you have a RAID
configuration or not, or if your SATA channel is set to the
AHCI configuration which also requires an additional driver.

For more information go to www.microsoft.com and type "code
39" with quotes into the search box and click on the search
icon or press <Enter> and you will be generously rewarded
with free Microsoft troubleshooting information relative to
your problem - IT'S ABSOLUTELY 100% FREE!!
