I haven't seen this before in XP x64, but it has shown up in SBS installations. There's a KB for SBS out there on it. The basic problem is that the service needs to be reinstalled. There's a KB: 937231, but the basic steps to fix it are:
1. Open a command prompt. 2. Navigate to %windir%\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries 3. Run “start /w helpsvc /svchost netsvcs /regserver /install” 4. Once this command completes the Help and Support service should now appear in services.msc 5. Start the Help and Support service
Adjust as required for XP x64, but that should help. -- Charlie. http://msmvps.com/xperts64 http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile/charlie.russel
