been a long time waiting, but AVG has finally got a virus scanner that = runs on 64 bit system.
was amazed at the difference in system responsiveness after uninstalling = avast and installing avg.
most programs snap up on screen. even OE or WM both snap up on screen = instead of the several seconds wait after clicking QL icon.
following my standard precaution.' ran msconfig, disabled all startup items. reboot. uninstall avast and install avg. boot 2 times to insure all is well. run msconfig, enable le all startup items. reboot.
works great.

Noticed it also and, while I found Avast to work OK I never liked the interface. I'm very happy to remove Avast and install AVGQ

It would be much appreciated if you'd turn off HTML when posting to newsgroups. In Windows Mail it's the same as in OE, click on Tools/Options and the select the "Send" tab then select "Plain Text" for the News Sending Format at the bottom of the page.

Grisoft AVG Antivirus was one of the first antivirus applications that ran on 64-bit Windows. I'm not sure when they first started supporting 64 bit Windows, but I've been running it on my Windows XP x64 machine for about 1.5 years without any problems.
At the time of this writing, AVG is still a 32-bit application though--it installs into c:\program files (x86). As time goes on, I'd imagine there will eventually be an actual 64-bit version. This situation isn't really different from what happened back in the mid-90s with 16-bit apps slowly migrating to 32-bit.

AVG Professional has supported x64 for quite some time (at least mid-2006 and possibly earlier). The free edition didn't support x64 at first though.
