Printing to Win2k3 x64 from Vista 32bit
Gary Lum 4/24/2007 11:56:02 PM
Afternoon,
We are running AD on 3 Win2k3_x64 servers. One of the servers hosts the
print queues for our networked printers. the printers are HP 8100, 8150, 5550
and 3380's.
One of the students recently purchased a new laptop running Vista 32 bit.
When trying to connect to the network print queue for the 8100 and 8150
printers on the server, he gets an error message stating the server does not
have the correct drivers installed. We will then try to use the HP drivers
we downloaded but Vista complains that they are not the correct drivers.
Alternately, I have tried to install the "Additional drivers" for sharing
printers on the server. None of the drivers will install for x86 version of
Vista/XP/2000. The error states that the drivers are do not support the
correct architecture type.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

I wanted to add that
a) Additional drivers works correctly for the 5550dtn and the student can
print to the color printer.
b) I am running Vista business x64 and have no problems using the 64 bit
drivers.
