/3GB switch to WinXP in Vista bootloader
"Thomas G. Madsen" <nospam[ at ]madsen.tdcadsl.dk> 4/15/2007 11:57:15 AM
I have Vista Ultimate 64 and WinXP MCE 2005 installed and I'm using
the Vista bootloader. How can I set the /3GB switch on the WinXP MCE
installation?

A google search has lead me to:
<http://blogs.technet.com/brad_rutkowski/archive/2006/10/03/Hey-where-did-_2F00_3GB-go-in-Longhorn-and-Vista_3F00_.aspx>
but that's about adding the switch to Vista, and that is not what I
need.

Bcdedit from a command prompt reveals this:

Windows Boot Manager
--------------------
identifier {bootmgr}
device partition=C:
description Windows Boot Manager
locale en-US
inherit {globalsettings}
default {ntldr}
displayorder {current}
{ntldr}
toolsdisplayorder {memdiag}
timeout 5

Windows Boot Loader
-------------------
identifier {current}
device partition=C:
path \Windows\system32\winload.exe
description Windows Vista
locale en-US
inherit {bootloadersettings}
bootdebug No
osdevice partition=C:
systemroot \Windows
resumeobject {3b38593b-d0d7-11db-9d24-80bc079d6ff5}
nx OptIn
pae ForceDisable
oslnointegritychecks Yes
vga No
quietboot No
sos No
debug No

Windows Legacy OS Loader
------------------------
identifier {ntldr}
device partition=D:
path \ntldr
description WinXP MCE

The MCE boot still uses the same mechanism it has always used - boot.ini.
Find the boot.ini for it and modify as usual.
