vista and lognhorn beta3

Hi!!

I'm studying operative systems such as the new Vista (x86, x64) and Longhorn
(the next Server 2007, beta3), and I'm wondering if the boot process is in
the same way that years ago.. so first a mark 07c00h or something like that
in the boot sector (512 bytes), and after that a jump to the kernel, a
change to 64 bits, ....

I think the boot could be done with masm 6.0 but I'm wondering what language
has been used to do the other parts... VC++6, .NET 2003, 2005, any others
compilers?

You may want to look more thoroughly for a programming
forum. This one is geared toward the operations of the
system instead of the development of it.
