DVD-RW is not recognized in XP64, it IS in the Bios and Device man
Net Spaceman 6/27/2007 2:46:09 PM
I had a strange situation in which my 109 Pioneer suddenly disappeared from
XP64 after installing SP2, but still showed up in the Bios, and the device
manager. SO I put in a SATA DVR-212D Pioneer, well that one also showed in
the BIOS and in Device manger but not in windows explorer or in disk manager,
so I added an IDE Pioneer 111, that also shows in the Device manger but not
in manager, nor in my computer.

I uninstalled SP2 and Nero essentials, but the situation still is the same.

I have one SATA HDD as a secondary drive and one PATA as the boot drive, I
also have a USB external drive. They work fine. I also have several USB
Card readers that work correctly.

I have tried all sorts of combinations of drives conneceted and
disconnected, including a boot drive and one DVD. NOTHING will allow the DVD
to show up so I can use it. I tried installing new drivers and it just says
I have the best driver for the device I have. I even deled teh upper and
lower filters, then the OS will not come up.

I checked all over the net but can't find much to help. Hope someone out
there can help.
