If it's XP Pro or Home (32-bit) then you're in the wrong forum. This forum is for 64-bit Windows.
If you had the appropriate cd for your edition and the correct Product Key, you could do a "Repair Install" which will usually fix most problems.
Otherwise you need to go to the regular Windows XP forums, the ones that don't have "64bit" in their listing.
