It's a Yahoo thing

To those who might be getting a similar error message, I have found it to be caused by an add-on which has somehow sneaked into Internet Explorer. In this case IE6, because as yet, no hub software has been downloaded to cure the known problems with IE7.
Open IE/Tools/Manage Add-ons... and disable BT Yahoo! Services.
I have answered my own question but hopefully, it might be of help to sombody.
