Internet Problem with Virtual PC 2007
Eskimosound 6/23/2007 4:17:00 PM
Hi I have just installed Virtual PC on my Vista Ultimate 64bit.
No problem whatsoever.
Then I installed my old XP, still no problem.
But once I run Virtual PC and shutdown I lose my Internet connection.
I found a soultion in microsoft support but it is for Virtual PC 2004 and
involves me finding the Network Connections (Not that easy in Vista, if you
can tell me a quick way then please do they dont show up in search) But that
is only temporary and indeed once my comp is rebooted I have to uninstall and
then reinstall Virtual PC, which is very difficult, it freezes my machine and
I have to reboot and then do it...so not very impressed although Virtual PC
2007 is very cool.
So any idea how to solve my network connectivity.
As I say I found the solution in microsoft support but it doesnt work
properly..i.e.it was a solution for Virtual PC 2004 running on XP machines.

FWIW, I've been using Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1 without issues on Vista. A
pain to get working because of UAC. Not hard, just a nuisance and you have
to follow all the steps carefully.

To get to the Network Connections dialog, the easiest way is the command
line:

ncpa.cpl

Yep thats fine and I set it to recieve the correct file for service and then
on powering down and then up again I have lost all internet connections!!!!
The only way to reinstate it is to unistall Virtual PC 2007 which in itself
leaves garbage every where.
Is there not a finite solution?

This sounds like a VirtualPC issue, and I suspect you'll do better over on
their newsgroup. I know Colin comes by here sometimes, but I haven't seen
him lately. And I don't use VirtualPC - only Virtual Server.

Thanks Charlie,
I've given up on it, it was only and experiment to see if it was any
good...it is but seeing as it causes my internet to stop and I don't realy
need it, I have unistalled it.
I will wander over to their newsgroup if you know where it is but if not
don't worry about it.
Thanks.
