Re-asking
Younes 5/6/2007 10:39:01 PM
ok i was advised to post this here so here i go with the problem:
Processor: intel® Core™2 CPU T7200 [ at ]2.00GHZ
memory (RAM): 1022MB
Vista home premiuum 32-bit Operating system(before)
i ran a TuneUp Utilities 2007 scan and it stated :
" your computer has a 64bit processer, but your current windows version only
uses 32 of the available 64bits. you should consider upgrading to a 64bit
version of your operating system to benefit from iproved security and better
system performance"

so i set out to buy Vista Ultimate 64bit i installed a clean version then i
went to downloading the
nvidia fom http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x64_158.24.html

ok now the Nvidia that i installed is GeForce Go 7600 since then my screen
looked better, but the other stuff that i coulden't solve are:
1.my built in camera doesn't work(lookin 4 a solution)
2.My blutouth doesn't work too
3.the built in Lan settings disapeared
4.using norton 360 its ok but slowing down<---- defragmenting as i type this
with raxo perfect disk 8... i'll see if this solves my slowdown problems

the wirles, bluetoth, & built in camera softwares were provided by the
manufacturer(built in) i do know dlna sticker is on my laptop so donno what
it is for thoughXI

i contacted sonny they advised me not to upgrade to a 64bit ver of vista
cause they don't have the drivers 4 that...if iknew i would have not.

i still want too keep the 64bit thing but... can't find solotions. oh i'm
using DriverDetective but still its not helping much. thank u for reading

The 64 bit versions of various drivers are VERY slow in coming from
some manufacturers, if at all. I doubt there's much you can do except
to partition your hard drive into two or more partitions, re-install
the Vista Home Premium that came with the computer on Drive C: and
then install Vista 64 bit on a separate partition.

Vista 64 will install a boot loader that will allow you to dual boot,
into the 32 bit or into the 64 bit.

Once you've found all the drivers you need (and that could be a very
long time!) you'll be able to use the 64 bit exclusively, until then
you'll have the use of the computer as a 32 bit machine.

Sorry I can't offer you any other advice but you're searching for
drivers that may not exist yet.

Use the recovery CD that Sony gave you with the computer, it should
format your harddrive and re-install everything exactly as it was
before you formatted.

You're VERY luck you left the recovery partition alone, if you'd
deleted it you'd not be able to put the computer back as it was
originally.

Once you've put everything back as it was, read the instructions as to
how to make a restore CD set and do that before doing anything else!

Once you've done that you can re-partition the HD and install the 64
bit OS in another partition and dual boot.

what is the product name, model, and manufacturer? Maybe we know where to
find them.

When you turn the computer on, press F10 to get the recovery menu.
select to restore without changing the size of the partitions. Let that
complete. Now you should have the machine as it was when you first used
it.

Note: if you have any user files, back them up _Before_ beginning this
process.

Now, you can begin the process of installing the 64 bit system. You
should probably keep the original system at least until you have set up
the other system. It will likely be some time before all the support
drivers will be available for the notebook.

In outline, you will have to resize the C partition to make room for
another partition. Then you will have to create that partition and
install the alternate OS. There are various ways to do that. Google for
dual booting instructions or post back here when you are ready.

OK. I checked the on-line manual for the notebook. Could be I got it
wrong again. However, perhaps you could dig out the notebook's manual or
have a look at the on-line one on the Sony site and see there how to do
it in greater detail.

It may be F8 for your system. It is for mine.

I couldn't find any information on the specs for your laptop. It's like your
laptop is not from the US or Canada. It may be just that it is old. Can you
verify the laptop model number?
