I can't get the 3rd rev (or perhaps level is a better word) of .net to install. I get the cryptic error message that I can't unfortunately cut and paste. I figured I'd start over with the first .net file, which I archived. It is dotnetfx.exe and about24Mbytes. I installed this once. In the install, there is a message: --------- This software has known incompatibility with IIS services on this platform. To maintain IIS functionality, we recommend that users complete the following steps after the software install is complete:
1- From the Start menu select Run then press the Enter key 2- In the "Open" edit field enter the following command: "cscript %SystemDrive%\inetpub\AdminScripts\adsutil.vbs set w3svc/ AppPools/Enable32bitAppOnWin64 1" 3- Press the Enter key ----------- The inetpub\AdminScripts directory didn't exist. I created it and found the adsutil.vbs file in c:'windows\ServicePackFiles\adm64 about 84kbytes
Rather than use start->run, I opened a command prompt window so I could see the error message: ------- ErrNumber: -2147221020 (0x800401e4) Error trying to get the object w3svc/AppPools --------
Any ideas? OS is X64. Platform AMD64 dual core 4400
