Maybe deleting temporary files, hard disk cleanup wizard or a privacy function of a anti malware/adware/spyware program. Could probably also occur with switching OS user logins or creating a new OS login. Do the commands persist in the drop down after you retype them in the "Run..." pop-up? You can create a shortcut for any executable file by right clicking on the executable's icon in Windows Explorer and selecting "Create Shortcut". You can then drag the new shortcut to the "Start" menu, the quick launch area of the task bar or the desktop. Once on the Start menu or any of it's sub menus you can right click on the shortcut to "pin" it to the left column of the "Start" menu. You might need to adjust the properties of shortcuts for command window executables like cmd so they don't close as soon as they finish running.

Click Advanced tab Here is a button called "Clear List" which we use to clear the list of My Recent Documents from Start Menu. This button also clear the history of Run command window. I believe that I recently ran a 'clear list of recently-run programs', and that may have cleared my 'run' list as well. Perhaps somehow or other this variable has changed. Jim
