I had a couple of 'sensitive' pictures, so I 'hid' them, but I cannot find a way to retrieve them, how the hell do I get them back?

Depending on what you mean, an dsince you offered no details of any kind, two things occur to me: -- Reverse whatever process you used to hide them, and/or
-- Use Search to search for partials of the filenames. If you set the Hidden attribute, then it all off first.

That's a very hard question to answer, since you've told us nothing about what you did to hide them.

The problem is that I can't remember what I clicked on, all I can say is that I got a window which asked me whehther i wanted to hide the pics, which I did, and they immediately vanished.

The 'filenames' I made no note of so I can't do a search for them, I was expecting to find something which said 'restore', or 'unhide'!

Try a system restore. They may revert back to where they were. "Alan Holmes" <alan_holmes[ at ]nowhere.com> wrote in message news:1bm8i.8883$VS.5371[ at ]newsfe3-win.ntli.net...

System Restore restores the operating system, and doesn't affect a user's data files.

I have no idea what Alan did when he "hid" the files, so I asked him for clarification. He has not yet replied. Until or unless he does, I am not willing to guess what the problem may be, and make any recommendation at all. A guess at a solution, if the problem is misunderstood, may make the situation worse, not better.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I have now managed to get them back.
All I have to do is to remember how!

I said you could make the "situation" worse. System Restore undoes changes--those you might want to keep as well as those you don't. Running System Restore when it isn't likely to solve a problem can undo changes that you might want kept.

Try to remember approximate date in which pictures were originally saved and after searching for all image files, sort them by date. Also try to sort by size, because 'sensitive' pictures tend to be large in terms of kilobytes. A decision has to be made as to whether or not to run system restore. "Isn't likely" to solve a problem doesn't cut the mustard. The problem needs fixing. Changes you want to keep can always be remade. "Ken Blake, MVP" <kblake[ at ]this.is.am.invalid.domain> wrote in message news:hfu863hlqpsbvmuvbohofl9s42qsvu671f[ at ]4ax.com...

Well I do not know how you hid them so assuming you deleted the files from your computer they are still on your computer except the binary code has changed. If this is the case there are programs that will restore deleted files usually by type. So you would try to restore files of a jpeg type. You may want to look on Google to see if there is a free program that does this. Hope this helps. Kaja
