I'm also facing the same problem. Hidden files dissappear forever...
Tried that registery thing:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
My Registery named Hidden is not REG_DWORD, but it is REG_SZ. Its DATA was 0, I changed it to 1, still no change in the hidden files.
I'm using XP Media Center edition...
