My XP MCE 2005 is constantly changing the preset customizations and tasks
for the special folders and the harddrive root folders. However often I
reset them back to defaults sooner or later they invariably change to
something else.
For instance right now Explorer is showing the following:
My Documents (on C:)-- Video files customization and Tasks [923 folders
including My Pictures]
My Pictures (on C:)-- Document customization " " [617
folders]
My Music (on E:)-- Picture " " "
My Videos(on E:)-- Picture " " "
Drives C: & D:[partitions]-- normal at present
Drive E:[partition]-- Video customization and Tasks
Drive L:[external]-- Video customization and Tasks
There doesn't seem to be any pattern as to when or why the folders suddenly
change or which customization will be applied to any of them. Ordinary
folders and sub-folders may or may not also lose their customizations when
the change happens. For instance, some sub-folders in My Music have theVideo
customization, some have the Document or Picture customizations and many
retained the Music customization. It all seems very random.
Tweakui is currently set to remember 6000 folder customizations but there
only about 1600 folders that I would normally work with. The Defrag tool
reports 8,232 folders on C:, 480 on E: and 123 folders on L: drive. D: drive
is a recovery partition. There is also an external M: drive which is only
attached occasionally for backups, a digital camera, memory card reader and
sometimes a USB flash drive. The web cam also shows up in My Computer but it
doesn't behave like a drive.
Does anyone have any idea what causes the folders to change like that?
Better still, does anyone know of a way to make the default settings
permanent?
