I'd like to ask what programs most of you use to cleanup your computer.

Thanks.

Hi,

There are so many tools, for example : cleanup xp
So, the best way to clean up your computer is to use the integrated
Microsoft Tools in
the operating system.

Here's a link of Windows XP clean up: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/expert/northrup_restoreperf.mspx

I hope, it helps!

best regards from Austria

Take a look at CCleaner as a tool to remove Internet history info, cookies,
temp files, auto complete and other junk. Just check the items you want
deleted.

Others have given you good advise. I'd like to add that you steer clear of
so-called trialware versions of disk cleaners you might find while on-line.
Many of these prove to be more problematic than helpful as they often tend
to continue to nag you even after they have been uninstalled. Some report
problems that don't even exist in an effort to get you to buy the full
version. There are some excellent third party programs available but for the
most part the built in tools work well enough.

If you need to hide your tracks or permanently erase files though you will
need third party software.

WinXP's built-in Disk Cleanup is all that's necessary for most people.
CCLeaner is OK for removing temporary files, but its registry
component is too dangerous for the average computer user to dafely use.

In my mind, the absolute best by far is CCleaner (free from:
http://ccleaner.com/ ). My advice to you would be to install and run it
with only the blocks checked which are set up by the installation program.
As you learn more, you can consider the other options available.
