Hi,
I can't get Help and Support to start, either from the start menu or by directly opening the file C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\helpctr.exe.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, John

Try shutting it down and then restarting it. "John Broderick" <noone[ at ]none.com> wrote in message news:ugjfuMAwHHA.484[ at ]TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl...

Hi John,
Doug Knox provides a script that restores associations for Help and Support that may have been removed or otherwise altered. You can d/load it from here, if you wish to run it: http://dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/fixwinxphelp.htm

Thanks, I tried it and it does not help. [Unless a reboot is needed, which I have not performed.]

If it still does not work following a reboot, you could try reinstalling Help and Support following the instructions here: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/rebuildhelp.htm
You may be requested to insert your XP install CD when reinstalling Help and Support.....for this you would need a retail CD and not a Recovery or Restore CD provided by a computer manufacturer. If you have a Service Pack installed that was not integrated in the install CD, point to the %Windir%\i386\ServicePackFiles folder.
