RSH Connection losts remote user account information
"Pasi Heino" <pasi.heino[ at ]fi.fujitsu.com> 7/11/2007 9:48:15 AM
I have two diffrent LAN's (LAN1 and LAN2) which are connected over Internet
using VPN connection.

I have Windows XP Professinal with Ataman on LAN1 where computers tries
connect from LAN2. When RSH authentication is successful LAN1 Ataman
workstation sends Reflection X window to LAN2 ReflectionX client.

Everything is working inside LAN1 where Ataman workstation is located.
Clients on LAN1 can connect using rsh.exe to Ataman workstation. Ataman is
allowed to establish connections from both networks (LAN1 and LAN2) using
specified user account.

RSH command example:

%windir%\system32\rsh.exe 123.123.123.123 (Ataman workstation) -l ataman
"Remote command"

When I connect to Ataman from LAN1 client I can see useraccount and
IP-address where connection came f. ex. ataman[ at ]123.123.123.123, this means
that authentication is successful.

When I connect to Ataman from LAN2 useraccount is lost and Eventlog shows
error and useraccout information is /[ at ]213.213.213.213.

Is there any requirements for RSH to run over Internet or VPN? Network is
opened with any (all ports, protocols, etc.. is opened) and there is any
problems with network connections. I can logon from LAN2 to Ataman
workstation using f. es. TELNET.
