Programatically Recolouring and WMP11
Bizzare <bizzaremail[ at ]gmail.com> 5/29/2007 12:15:03 PM
It is possible to recolour elements of WMP skin files (e.g.
buttongroups, backgroundimages etc.) using "elementID.hueShift", and I
have done this successfully for WMP10.

Moving to WMP11, I have found this no longer works, despite using
exactly the same image files (8-bit/256 colour .bmp) and the same JS
code.

Has support for HueShift been dropped from WMP11, or is it done
differently to WMP10?
I checked the WMP11 on-line SDK, but it seems to work the same as for
WMP10.

I have posted this question on microsoft.public.windowsmedia *and*
microsoft.public.windowsmedia.player.skins, but as I have not had any
replies, I am trying here too.
It would be nice to get a response - even if it's a "don't know"...
Zach, Neil, anybody???

Cheers

B

I don't know LOL.

Was it you who posted about .bmp files not apparently working in SKIN
in WMP11 ? I seem to remember a post about that - how does it work out
when using GIF image format, which is also available ?

Hi Neil

Yes, I asked the same question elsewhere (windowsmedia.skins and poss
1 other group).

I haven't tried using .gif images. The WMP SDK states that for things
like buttongroup and view.backgroundimage:

"This attribute changes the hue value of the images specified by the
[attribute] if it/they has/have been specified and they refer to 8-bit
BMP image(s)"

So I assumes .gif was a non-starter. I might give it a go; but I'm not
hopeful. Any confirmation of this working/not working would be
terribly useful.

Thanks!
