If I omit windowlessVideo=true, picture is hown fine. Same thing does NOT happen with asf file, for example. Any ideas as to why could this be?

Which media player version? First thought - if it's reproducible - is that the MPEG playback is going through a decoder which doesn't use overlays to display the video.
