It is also possible that your older XP machine which was used to burn the DVD is having an easier time reading the DVD that it burnt in the first place.
In your new Vista PC with a different DVD it maybe struggling and having to re-read portions of the DVD to get it to read error free.
In which case this is not an OS problem but a potential DVD drive problem. It can be a common issue that burnt discs dont always read as well on other machines as they should...
