CD Ripping Issue - Only Lossless Format works in WMP11 ??!!
sveale01 6/28/2007 1:16:01 PM
Have recently upgrade my LG P1 Notebook to Vista Business. Running Realtek HD
Audio and have the latest driver 1.69 installed. When I rip music from a
legit store-bought CD into my library every format EXCEPT WAV refuses to play
back. When I click for web help I get the page for the good old C00D11B1
error messgae help page. Have tried all the solutions there but to no avail.
Interestingly the free tracks that installed with WMP11 will not play either,
same error message. The ripped tracks play fine in other media players like
Cyberlink PowerDVD, why not WMP11. Any help greatly appreciated, tearing my
hair out Down Under!!

Under WMP's Help:About:Technical Support Information menu tool, what is
listed?

What is the URL that the Web Help takes you to? That URL will have an
additional error code embedded in it.

The secondary error (source error) is "The requested audio playback device
is currently in use." Do previously acquired/other MP3 or WMA files work?
The question is whether you're completely unable to play back WMA/MP3 at all
using WMP (MF), or whether it's just these files you've been producing
lately.

None of my ripped music will play. Tried them on my other networked PC and
they play fine. It's running WMP 11 ver 11.0.5721.5145 on XP Pro, the one not
working is WMP 11 ver 11.0.6000.6324 on Vista.

Good information - now, does a WMA file ripped on the XP Pro machine play on
the Vista machine?
Can you play back audio in WMV files?

Right now it would seem that Media Foundation isn't happy with the sound
card - what else is running / installed on the system? Something is either
locking it or the sound card driver is broken/buggy. =\

Ripped some WMA files on the XP Pro machine, not playable on the Vista
machine. WMV no good either.

I don't have a heck of a lot loaded on the notebook, editing software for
digital camera and handycam, Norton, a few bits and pieces from LG that were
loaded when I bought it, DivX Player, Cyberlink PowerDVD, no games.
