Saving audio file in wav instead of wma Jules 7/4/2007 6:44:01 PM I need to record audio files in wav format but Vista automatically saves it in wma and doesn't give me the option of using another format. Anyone know how to change the settings to allow me to save my files in wav instead? Thanks -- Jules

You might try Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/windows free or Cooledit http://coolrecordedit.com/features.html 30 day trial, $20. or use the old XP version: I haven’t trried this, but I found these instructions... To get the old recorder to work on Vista, do the following: 1. Copy the %SystemRoot%\System32\sndrec32.exe file from a Windows XP computer to your Vista machine. 2. Right-Click the file and choose Run as Administrator. (This is required so that it can write one-time registry entries). 3. Now you can just double-click that icon and the old app will work!
