I have a windows xp disk from an old computer I threw away. How do I switch from using Vista to XP. I know I have to uninstall it but how do I do that?

OEM genuine MS CDs are tied to the old machine too.. a full retail XP CD would be OK.. BUT Your new machine may not have XP drivers available for all internal devices.. check with the computer manufacturer first.. You might also want to check with the 'school' software authors for fixes enabling the software to be run on Vista..
