Hello everyone,
I increased the text size using the "change the size of text and icons"
option in Vista's "Ease of Access Center". I set a "custom DPI scaling" of
192. This text size is perfect for us, however here's the problem.
Certain kinds of windows are now so big they go off the screen. They won't
let me resize them! I cannot reach the "OK" button to click it.
I know about Vista's "text magnifier" however we find it cumbersome and
sluggish.

You can use the keyboard to move the off screen window so that you can reach
the buttons.
Press ALT+SPACEBAR+M. Use the Arrow Keys to move the window. Press the left
mouse button when you are done.

I hate to say this, but there's still a problem …
The windows are so big that the title-bar is flush with the top of the
screen, and the "OK" button is below the bottom of the screen.
When I do the alt-spacebar-M as you recommended, I can move the window
upward to get to the "OK" button. However, the moment I left-click, the
window immediately returns to its original position.

You may need to set a higher screen resolution. Open Control Panel and
select Adjust Screen Resolution in the Appearance and Personalization
section. Move the Resolution Slider one notch to the right and click
Apply/OK. You may need to go back and set the resolution higher, if this
isn't enough.
If adjusting the resolution does not fix the problem, you may need to adjust
the DPI to a slightly lower setting.

It looks like we have to set the DPI to a lower setting. Bummer! 200 DPI
was perfect for us. The screen resolution is already at the highest setting
(1280x1024).

Well, my screen refresh rate is at 75 Hz (to avoid flicker) and the buttons
on the bottom of the monitor are the standard ones. They adjust for
horizontal size/position and vertical size/position of the picture as well as
color, brightness, sharpness, and contrast. I thought my monitor was set up
correctly; perhaps is isn't.

been covered.
If you have to lower the DPI setting to reduce the size of things how come
you state that 200dpi was perfect for you?
I use 120dpi on my 1280x1024 flat panel which is also my resolution setting.

I said that 200 DPI was perfect because there are elderly people here who
have trouble reading small print. 200 DPI was comfotable for them.
However at 200 DPI, some of the windows (esp. the system setting windows)
are so big that the top is flush with the top of the screen and the bottom
goes off the bottom of the screen. I can't resize them, and I can't reach
the "OK" button. "ALT+spacebar+M" and the magnifier was already tried but it
had problems.
That's why I was forced to reduce the DPI.

Ok that makes a lot of sense.
With my dpi set at 120. I change my Icon Size setting and use Text Size
settings in the View Menu of many applications such as mail or Internet
Explorer or the font size options in other to enlarge text. This still
leaves me the ability to get lots more data on the screen with others such
as Excel.

That didn't make any sense ? I don't understand.
Changing the text in the setting under the view menu, as you mentioned, is
what we have been doing. I just thought it would be nice to be able to set
the size for all text in all of windows so that we don't have to keep going
to the view menu.
