My Vista 64 installation went like a dream, until the installer proclaimed
the installation was finished and tried to reboot. Then everything stopped
dead, and no amount of manual power-off rebooting could make Vista start.
Vista 64 came pre-installed on my new machine when it was delivered, and
worked fine, but it was unable to recognize my laser printer, scanner and
bluetooth units , so I bought a new Vista 64 compatible partition manager
from Avanquest, and moved Vista up by 8 GB to make space for my old Windows
2000, prior to cylinder 1024, (as recommended by my old PartitionMagic), in
order to use all my old hardware and software. W2k works fine but Vista
didn't survive the move operation, so I had to reinstall it, but as
described, that failed. So now I wonder if the Vista primary partition must
start "lower down" than 8GB? I created a 30 GB primary partition for Vista,
when installing, so there should have been enough space to install I
believe. Anyone here, with advice on how to make the installation succeed?
