can i unactivate my product key? jimmie 6/21/2007 11:07:02 PM i installed vista home premium and choose the option to activate as soon as i was online. since my internet connection is always on i assumed that my copy activated, and let my friend install and use the same product key. now a window pops up and says that i need to activate and when i enter my product key it says my key is in use. is there a way to unactivate the key from my friends computer??

Or, have your friend purchase his own and change the key: Right click My Computer and click Properties. Near the bottom is an option to change the key. What you did was illegal and you got caught. Now you have to call up to activate, which will make your friends copy show as invalid. Then he will call to activate his system again and your system will again show as invalid. At this point you are screwed - unless you can convince your friend to remove Vista from his computer and trust him to never use your install key again.
