Upgrade XP to Ultimate fails in Expanding Files "Andrew Fiddian-Green" <nn[ at ]dd> 7/10/2007 6:21:45 AM I just tried to upgrade an XP installation to Ultimate and encountered an error in the Expanding Files phase. (Also when it went into rollback mode, that also failed and I ended up deleting the installer's temp files and fixing the MBR by hand). My system is an ASUS A8V mobo with AMD dual core CPU and VIA SATA RAID. I suspect the problem could be linked to the RAID: I am running Setup from the XP installation, so I suppose that Setup takes over the existing RAID driver that it finds in the XP system folder. Also I wonder if Gathering Files and Expanding Files are processing files in My Documents? Because I have a large amount of media files and programming source files and Gathering Files took about one hour of heavy disk activity. (Indeed I wonder if it could just have overheated the drives?) AndrewFG
