legacy of kain defiance sallyw 6/29/2007 11:40:01 AM I have a toshiba satellite laptop with windows vista haome premium installed. I Installed Legacy of Kain Defiance. When I try to run game I get a message "conflict with the disc emulator software detected" and the game will not run. What does it mean and what is solution? -- thanx Sallyw

RE: legacy of kain defiance Necunoscut 6/30/2007 10:22:00 AM There are only a few things I can think of that could cause the problem: 1. you're running daemon tools (or any other emulation software like alcohol 120%) 2. you're running nero burning rom 3. Starforce (the cd validation/protection software) isn't working with Vista. Disable the programs and try running the game again. In the case of Starforce download and install: http://www.star-force.com/protection.phtml?c=83&id=957 and try running the game. I don't know the details of LOK:D but in many cases by installing the game somewhere besides "c:\program files" you can get the game to work just fine (that is a specially locked down set of folders when UAC is on). I'd have to agree, just set Legacy of Kain to run as admin by default. Should resolve any issues. You could also install LoK into a public folder (like what WoW does) or some other non-secure folder. I re-enabled it on all my systems recently, it doesn't cause any issues, and I figure if a program doesn't run correctly with it on (unless it's an old game I really want to play), it's just not worth the risk because some sloppy coder can't keep his hands out of protected windows space. -- Joe
