Some of you may remember me from a few days ago when I couldn't even download updates. Well I finally figured out that it was our new firewall and I changed a setting and we've been update downloadin' fools ever since.
Which actually is my new problem... I've currently downloaded 8 gigs of updates. Something tells me I don't need all of those.
Here's my network situation..
Clients: -Windows XP Pro (90% of the client computers) -Windows XP Home (1 client computer) -Windows 2000 (10% of the client computers)
-Office 2003 Pro Edition (90% of the client computers) -Office 97 Pro Edition (9% of the client computers) -Office XP (1% of the client computers)
Server: -Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition (1 Server) -Windows Server 2003 SBS (Premium..?) Edition (1 Server) -Exchange Server -Sharepoint -Remote Desktop access (from the outside, people can come in and remotely connect either to their email or their computer)
I really don't know anything else that deals with my network. I need to know how I can download only those things; remove currently downloaded and unnecessary updates and (if possible), have WSUS periodically delete old update files that should no longer be needed. That way I don't waste 8 gig of my server space (well... actually it's up to 8 gig, but it wants to download 27 gig.. i'm letting it continue until I know what to do).
And one more thing.. while these are being downloaded (and yes, all are 'approved'), none but two have yet to be "updated" to computers and the two that tried failed and I can't quite figure out why it failed.
Anyways.. thanks to all for your help; greatly appreciated. --Mike
